macOS: check device support and permissions
The current supported configuration is macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon. After installation, follow the client prompts to allow Screen Recording, Microphone, and Accessibility in System Settings under Privacy & Security. Restart the app if macOS requests it.
System recording permission supports meeting playback capture and screen analysis; microphone permission supports your responses. Seeing your own transcript does not confirm that the meeting audio channel works.
Windows: check playback and microphone devices
Choose the Windows installer, allow microphone access, and confirm that your meeting's playback device produces sound. After connecting or switching headphones, recheck the device selected in both the meeting app and system sound settings.
Windows capture protection requires Windows 10 version 2004 or later. Audio transcription and capture protection are separate features: working audio does not establish that window protection works in screen sharing.
Verify both channels in one short session
- Put on headphones, sign in, and start a practice interview.
- Play a known sentence through a meeting or media player. Check that it appears in the other speaker's transcript.
- Pause playback and say a different sentence into your microphone. Check your own transcript channel.
- Try relevant English or Chinese terminology and confirm the selected interview language.
- Select End Interview to stop capture and the timer. If cloud review is enabled, inspect the record and delete practice records you no longer need.
Troubleshoot by symptom
| Symptom | Check first | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Only your speech appears | Meeting sound, playback device, system recording permission | End the session, fix permissions or devices, and start again. |
| Only the other speaker appears | Microphone permission, input device, mute state | Say a sentence with playback paused. |
| Neither channel appears | Session started, sign-in, network, credits | Read the client's message and restart a practice call. |
| Stops after changing headphones | Meeting and system audio device selection | Reselect the devices and start a new interview. |
Make support requests reproducible
If the issue persists, provide your OS version, client version, meeting app, input and output devices, and the time it occurred. Reproduce it with a non-sensitive test sentence; a complete interview recording or resume is not needed.
These are setup and troubleshooting instructions, not a claim that every meeting application combination has been tested. Verify with your own short call.
Start with the free pre-interview audio check
This checks one capture, transcription, and sample answer on the current devices. Still use the short call above to verify your meeting app. Audio checking and the StealthBench screen-sharing check serve separate purposes; complete both.
- Sign in, leave OA mode, and end any active interview. Open the audio check in the interview overlay: Guides and tests → Audio check in newer versions, or Pre-Interview Audio Check · Free in earlier versions.
- Wear headphones and choose Play sample and check. Use the same output device for your meeting, and say a sentence into the microphone during the check.
- Read the computer-audio and microphone transcripts separately, then the streamed sample AI answer. Your microphone speech adds context; it does not independently trigger an answer.
- The check uses no credits, starts no interview, and saves no recordings or transcripts to review. After cancellation, wait for audio cleanup before starting an interview. Retest after changing headphones or speakers.
